We crafted a LinkedIn outreach campaign for TAP Consulting, a technical accounting and finance consultancy in Wayzata, Minnesota.

TAP Consulting is Tom McCarthy’s practice, and it calls itself a technical accounting partner. The work is the accounting a company cannot keep in house: memos on variable interest entities, ASC 606 and ASC 842, convertible notes and warrant modifications; purchase accounting analysis and deal structuring for business combinations; SEC-compliant financial statements; and running the staff and consultants who prepare a company to go public.

The companies on its client list include Sony Interactive Entertainment, Juul Labs, Mattress Firm and the energy developer Enfinity, along with SPACs.

The targeting was precise about function rather than industry. Our team went after the highest decision-makers in accounting departments, chief accounting officers among them, which is a narrow audience and a short list, but the right one for the offer.

The starting geography was the United States. Insurance was the first industry we recommended opening with, chosen on what the Sales Navigator search returned inside the agreed location and employee range.
