We built a lead database for an investment company in Delaware that buys online businesses.

Onfolio is a holding company that acquires profitable online businesses, improves how they run, and puts the cash into the next acquisition. It was founded in 2019 and went public on the Nasdaq in 2022 under the ticker ONFO. At the time we worked together it held a portfolio of seven businesses.

Onfolio buys from independent entrepreneurs, so the people they want to reach are the owners of those businesses. To reach more of them they built a lead magnet: a list of the investment companies that buy digital businesses, their own competitors included, given away free to any entrepreneur looking for a buyer.

The research behind that list was our job. We went through the market company by company, covering the buyers of SaaS and e-commerce businesses, and built the database in Google Sheets. An entrepreneur thinking about selling gets a set of names to contact instead of a blank page.
